Which rental car company should your pick up on for rent?

Vacations? Well, they should be special, ravishing and yes, ultimate! Cayman vacations stand out with an angelic smile when we talk about vacationing on islands. Day times spent in frolicking around on beaches and taking elaborate inland tours, while nights are calmly whiled away in partying. An important aspect of all holidays and vacations however, is a proper transport allocation. For instance, Cayman car rentals would occupy an extremely important position when you are on a vacation to the Cayman Islands. It all, however does not depend on the rental company! It depends to a certain extent on the choice of the vehicle that you make. The vehicle could largely determine the comfort level that you enjoy throughout your holiday. Here are a few criteria based on which you should decide the vehicle you would want to pick up from, while you are on a Cayman vacation.
  • Which cars is the company offering? - The size and kind of the vehicle that you would be hiring is an important factor in deciding the comfort with which you would be traveling. So, never ever compromise on the vehicle that you are hiring. A smaller vehicle might cost you a few bucks less, but it could mar the very spirit of your vacation. Insufficient sitting space often results in building up of stress and regional aches in the body.
  • What discounts and offers is it offering? - Cayman Car rental companies offer seasonal discounts and offers, and when booked in beforehand, the discounts could be considerably good. Check out, while at the time of booking in, which rental company is offering what discounts and offers. Compare and then finalize on any one of them.
  • Are the vehicles insured or are you to pay an insurance? - Generally, Cayman rental cars have their cars insured. Still, you might have to pay an amount, which is of course optional, if you need to ensure that you are not subject to any kind of risk. It is way better to stay clear regarding the insurance factor.
  • How does the car rental company deal with delays in returning? - returning the vehicle on the stipulated time is necessary and the penalty costs for delays could be huge. Check out with the Cayman car rental companies, as to how liberal they are with the timing parts and in case they are extremely professional, how much do they charge per hour of delay. Staying prepared is the best option, any day.
  • What are the pick-up costs? -We won't say every car rental company has it, but many of them do! If you do not leave the vehicle at the place, where you picked it up from, you are charged with some extra amount. Find out what is it with your car rental company.
Happy Cayman vacationing!

Things You Must Know About Cayman Car Rentals

When you are visiting Cayman Islands, car rentals are an unavoidable thing you must keep yourself educated about. Cayman, though a relatively small island, has a lot to see and venture about. It abounds equally in natural lavishness, historical heritage and lifestyle fun. When you are interested an all three of them, you should not stay dependent on the local conveyance facilities. A good car rental company is what you must be looking forward to. Here are a few bits and fancies that you compulsorily need to know about driving in Cayman and car rental companies, here.
  • Since Cayman Islands are English governed, the conventional rule of driving on the left is still followed here. Do not be taken aback if you come from a different driving rules background. People are generally very stern about traffic rules here and any negligence shown towards towards traffic system can lead to heavy penalties.

  • Lanes are strictly to be followed and turn-arounds are a common spectacle on roads. People follow rules and you are expected to do the same. It is better to stay considerate towards any vehicle, running parallel to you. Turn-around rules are stern and the traffic generally goes self-regulated.

  • When you are planning to visit Cayman, do not forget your driving license. It is on the basis of your native driving license, that your Cayman driving permit would be issued. Any car rental company on the island would make your Cayman driving permit available to you. You would need to furnish a copy of your native driving license in leu of it.

  • You must be minimum 21 years of age to stand eligible for driving independently on Cayman Islands. Some car rental companies elevate the age threshold. As such, it is safer to ask your rental company about their fixed age criteria.

  • You might be required to pay towards car insurance when you hire one, for a specific number of days. Many car rental companies do this to stay away from any kind of risk associated with theft or damage done to the vehicle. The amount is generally not pocket-burning in nature, but still, it does exist. Prepare to pay a few extra bucks towards it.

  • Hire a good car rental company. It is safe to compare 2-3 well-known and recommended ones and fix on something that suits your requirements and seems to be trust-worthy. Marshalls is a great Cayman car rental service provider with something or the other for different kinds of requirements. They offer good discount offers as well!

  • Book for your rental company well in advance. It gets a bit hassle-filled when you make last-moment reservations. Prices might increase and availability might be an issue. 3-4 weeks in advance should be good enough a time to make sensible reservations.

Getting around in Cayman – Rental Services

Cayman – The beach lover's paradise! Its almost a ritual to go there and get lost in the beauty and charm that nature has generously showered upon this set of islands. Once a visitor to Cayman Islands, and you would want to come here again and again. People come, they stay and they move around. And moving around is specifically easy here. Public transport galore, vehicles for rentals are easily available here. There are however, a few thumb-rules, you need to keep in mind while renting in a car for going around the island.

The first thing, you need to get a driving permit from the rental company that you are dealing with. Technically, all rental companies are supposed to to issue permits in change of US$7.5. Permits are valid for an extended period of 6 months. Now, for being eligible for getting a permit, you need to submit your age proof. This differs from one company to another. While one would consider it eligible even at 21 years of age, another would ask you to wait till you were 25. And the last limit till which you can take a car for rent is 75, invariably across all rental companies. Speed limits are strict here and breach-in these limit rules can drop you into severe conditions. So, better, keep to the rules and drive.

Car rental prices are another factor that could really matter to you if you were not aware. Rental prices shoot up severely during the December-April frame. Beyond that, they are sliced off to as low as 35%! So, it is always better to book in a car well in advance if you are planning for a Cayman trip during the merry-making times.

Most rental companies have their kiosks set up at comfortable distances from the airport. However, it is entirely up-to you to chose a car for yourself! You can travel to your hotel in a taxi from the airport and then have a rental car screech in at your place! That is exactly what many tourists conventionally do! So get a car and drive your way through the beautiful Cayman paradise!

Cayman Islands Water Sports - Hire Rental Car

Diving: Diving is the Number One Watersport in the Cayman Islands. Renowned the world over for its spectacular diving, our small colony has many excellent dive operators to reflect this popular activity. There are over 40 in Grand Cayman, 5 dive operations in Little Cayman, 3 in Cayman Brac, and live aboard dive boats are also available.

Whether you are a complete beginner or a dive master, Cayman offers you every type of professional dive service, including equipment sales, rentals and repairs and scuba instruction at all levels. Nitrox and technical diving instruction and services are one of Cayman's newest dive offerings. In addition, there are several full service underwater photography and video centres with E-6 processing services on all three Islands.

A mixture of shallow, wall and wreck dives make up the Cayman Islands almost 200 dive sites among the three Islands, your choice is endless. Grand Cayman alone has close to 120 dive sites, some with beach access, others by boat. Cayman Brac and Little Cayman give you another 40 or so each to choose from. Most tourist publications will have a map of these dive sites, as will the concierge desk at your hotel or apartments, or ask for more details at the dive operators of your choice.

For a unique shallow dive visit our famous Stingray City. Here, more than 30 Southern Atlantic stingrays swim freely with snorkellers and divers in 12 feet of water. The site can be reached only by boat.

All divers who wish to dive must show proof of certification (C-Card) under the regulations of the Cayman Islands Watersports Operators Association members (CIWOA). Safety and marine conservation are key elements of all diving in the Cayman Islands. The maximum sport diving limit of 110 feet applies to all CIWOA operations.

You can be reassured that Cayman has a government owned two-man double lock recompression chamber, located at the George Town Hospital. It is manned on a 24-hour on call basis by trained staff supervised by a doctor trained in hyperbaric medicine.
