Things you should take care of before hiring a rental car

Visiting a foreign land is fun, experience and memory. All three of them are factors to some important things like vacation hotel booking and car rental booking. Have any one messed up, and your entire holiday is definite to go for a toss. Your vacation would typically not be more than a week long, and as such if your rental car does not show up on time, or is you have to stay at the rental company's counter, getting after-shocks of some untold term and conditions, you would better spend your vacation in sweet solitude. Given below is a list of such 'not to be ignored' things about Cayman Car Rental Companies that you are simply not allowed to forget.

  • Before jumping on the goodness of any car rental company, based on what the company customer care executive told you, read word by word through the terms and conditions and the offer pamphlets. It would really pay off in case there is some stupid occurrence in the future.
  • Most Cayman Car Rental Companies would have their wagons displayed on their websites. So when you choose a car, you know exactly how much it can accommodate. However, on reaching the destination, car sizes getting altered due to an unavailability of the variety that you had chosen, is not much of a rare incident. Be prepared for any such surprise and plan back-ups accordingly.
  • Do not hesitate to buy that extra rental car insurance that your rental company wants you to take. Though on the face, it might seem unreasonable to spend considerable bucks more for buying an insurance, when you already have a car insurance covering you. But in most cases, your car insurance would not be covering accidents that your rental car would face. No that we are promoting the probability of accidents in Cayman,(talking realistically, accidents in Cayman are really rare), but staying prepared does not have a better alternative.
  • Know the rules and regulations well in advance. That would include the time period for which you are hiring the rental company and what would happen if you keep the car with you even fifteen minutes extra. What would be the consequence if you decide to ask the rental company to collect the car from some 'not pre-determined' destination? Will they charge extra out of you for that? Many of them get into such detailed strictness in money deals while others are more lenient. Know about what your rental company would be like.
  • Last but not at all the least, make it a point to ask your Cayman Car Rental Company for any discount offer that is applicable to you at present. Take complete advantage of any promotional offer that is going on. An additional suggestion, check you car for marks, scratches and huddly handles before you jump into it. If these are noticed after you have returned it, you would be charged for all these damages. Stay aware.

A happy and pleasant Cayman vacation to you and your loved ones! Stay informed, stay safe.

Things You Must Know About Cayman Car Rentals

When you are visiting Cayman Islands, car rentals are an unavoidable thing you must keep yourself educated about. Cayman, though a relatively small island, has a lot to see and venture about. It abounds equally in natural lavishness, historical heritage and lifestyle fun. When you are interested an all three of them, you should not stay dependent on the local conveyance facilities. A good car rental company is what you must be looking forward to. Here are a few bits and fancies that you compulsorily need to know about driving in Cayman and car rental companies, here.
  • Since Cayman Islands are English governed, the conventional rule of driving on the left is still followed here. Do not be taken aback if you come from a different driving rules background. People are generally very stern about traffic rules here and any negligence shown towards towards traffic system can lead to heavy penalties.

  • Lanes are strictly to be followed and turn-arounds are a common spectacle on roads. People follow rules and you are expected to do the same. It is better to stay considerate towards any vehicle, running parallel to you. Turn-around rules are stern and the traffic generally goes self-regulated.

  • When you are planning to visit Cayman, do not forget your driving license. It is on the basis of your native driving license, that your Cayman driving permit would be issued. Any car rental company on the island would make your Cayman driving permit available to you. You would need to furnish a copy of your native driving license in leu of it.

  • You must be minimum 21 years of age to stand eligible for driving independently on Cayman Islands. Some car rental companies elevate the age threshold. As such, it is safer to ask your rental company about their fixed age criteria.

  • You might be required to pay towards car insurance when you hire one, for a specific number of days. Many car rental companies do this to stay away from any kind of risk associated with theft or damage done to the vehicle. The amount is generally not pocket-burning in nature, but still, it does exist. Prepare to pay a few extra bucks towards it.

  • Hire a good car rental company. It is safe to compare 2-3 well-known and recommended ones and fix on something that suits your requirements and seems to be trust-worthy. Marshalls is a great Cayman car rental service provider with something or the other for different kinds of requirements. They offer good discount offers as well!

  • Book for your rental company well in advance. It gets a bit hassle-filled when you make last-moment reservations. Prices might increase and availability might be an issue. 3-4 weeks in advance should be good enough a time to make sensible reservations.

Hiring a car or for that matter, any vehicle that complies with your needs, is the best way to get around on Cayman Islands. The rental services here are reliable, affordable and most important, punctual. They have a lot of options, you can choose from in terms of size of the vehicle, the time for which you require to hire a vehicle for yourself and the package which you wish to go for.
Generally, different rental service providers have distinct sorts of schemes going on throughout the year. Because the island teems with tourists throughout the year, the demand for rental cars stays high. Yet, like every other tourist destination, this place also has has peaks and off seasons. The winters here enjoy more tourist traffic, as compared to the summers. So if you are planning to pay a visit somewhere around the same time, it is better to get in touch with a rental provider weeks ago and book a vehicle for yourself in advance. This would spare you an enormous nightmare.

As far as looking for the right rental provider comes, either go by word of mouth, or else prepare to perform a little homework on your own onus. It is advisable to compare the offerings and provisions of the various car rental providers in Cayman and then harp on one of them. Generally, a car rental company would demand your driving license and would issue a Caymanian driving license in lieu of it. The condition is your age, and most rental providers count the age of above 21 to be eligible fro driving a vehicle. The best part about hiring a rental car is that you take it up for how-so-many days you wish to, and the entire time is yours!

Hire a rental car, and make your vacation at Cayman, worthwhile.

Sunny Summers Or Chilly Winters, When Do You Rent A Car?

Cayman Islands is a place which sees tourists flocking in by water and air all throughout the year! Yet, like every other tourist spot, this place also has the concept of season and off season, governing its price markets. Rates would typically be high during some parts of the year and low during the rest of the year. Apart from the weather factor, vacations and weekends also play an important role in deciding the rate at which you would get access to the different facilities here.

Car rentals are no different! Conventionally, Cayman Islands provide rental cars at more or less a reasonable rate, competing those available at many other tourist places. However, there are certain short points where rates differentiate from one another. Time of the year for which you are booking your rental car is one of these prime factors that affect the price slot that you would have to pay. Summers generally are the months, considered under off season. Rentals during this period would be relatively low as compared to that during winters. The reason is the temperature on the islands and its fests and activities. Festivals are clustered mostly during the end side of summers or in
winters.

Winters are also the time when globally, families enjoy vacation time. As such, demand for residences and rental cars hover the skies during winters. It is but obvious, that during this time, rentals shoot up suddenly! More than often, you would be pre-informed about the rates if you care to ask about them. Moreover, websites of all car rental companies in Cayman Islands display the rates during summers and winters differently. It is a common fact that you would be expected to insure the car you are taking up on rent. And you would not be allowed to take a car on rent until and unless you are at least 21 years of age.

Once you are eligible for a temporary driving license here, you can easily book a car for your tour. Take care to check out the rates well in advance and book a car at least weeks ago in order to ensure the best deal for your pockets.

10 Must-Remember Things While Hiring a Car

Tourism is extensive in Cayman Islands and as such, the place blooms with tourists from all corners of the world throughout the year. A tropical climate, warmth, beautiful beaches, great marine life and equally beautiful spectacles on land! All these factors, together have given rise to many complementary businesses other than core tourism, more conventionally speaking, businesses that are entwined somehow or the other with tourism. Renting out cars has developed as one of these well-accepted businesses here.

Cayman Islands adequate in itself, a good number of companies that rent out cars, jeeps, convertibles and vans of all sizes for all kinds of requirements at all possible prices. All of them provide more or less a commendable level of service. However, there are yet many factors and points that, being a tourist, you must think of, plan in advance and work accordingly. Listing here under, a few of these 'must-remember' things.
  • The actual size of cars and that displayed in picture might vary. It is better to crosscheck the space capacity of cars before booking them
  • Time of the year during which you are booking matters. Festive seasons would cost you more and so would weekends. It is better to be flexible with dates while booking for vehicles.
  • Advance booking is mostly advantageous. It guarantees availability of the vehicle of your choice and also, a reduced cost.
  • The longer the time you book for, the more economic would it be for you. Many companies even provide discount offers, based on the time for which you book the vehicle. Price per day, thus becomes relative.
  • Rather than hooking on to a single car rental company, it is always better to serve the internet to get a better picture of the competitiveness of car rental rates.
  • If there has been someone in your circle, who has been to Cayman Islands earlier, feel it better to go for a consultation. Experience often speaks the best. If not, try reading reviews on the internet. It proves to be beneficial.
  • If cost is the constraint, do not hesitate to compromise on the size of the vehicle. Comfort can be compromised on for a little while.
  • Avoid listening to the hotel people, where you have parked in. Hotels and rental companies might be linked up through commission. It is better to hunt for your thing, yourself.
  • Cross check for the trust-ability of the rental company you would be dealing with as well as its popularity with the local public.
  • If you are a part of a tour trip, but wish to do some sight-seeing in your own privacy, it is better to grab a short-term deal, if any is currently available.

Your Tour Deserves Thrill And Magic - Hire a Convertible And Bestow Experience on Yourself

Cayman, a place where you chill out, worries drill in and time is grilled in the most relishing manner possible! People come here, frolic around, experience belongingness, move around, taste the blues of the ocean and throb along with the marine life. And in all this fun and celebration, rental companies end up as one of the most important factors that make life of tourists here, almost comparative to zephyr. A variety of cars are available all the year round at rates that would send jaws dropping down. Jeeps, small carriages, mid-size vessels, sedans and better not to forget, convertibles! Convertibles, amongst all, are the best deal you can have for yourself.

Almost all car rental companies have convertibles to be lent to tourists. Most of them have certain schemes, offers or discounts attached to them. Basically, if you happen to be hiring a convertible, be assured that your stay here would be worth remembering. Now, who does not know the thrill and ease  associated with deriving a group of friends or a hunch of family members in a
convertible? And yes, that thrill can be yours! Offers associated with hiring a convertible can be a small price as a discount of $4 to as lucrative an offer as a free drive for the seventh day after usage for 6 days! Well, that is quite something! The prices for hiring a convertible are really reasonable and sometimes you will find it over-justifying the kind of experience you are having with it!

Suited effectively to accommodate a small family if 5 as well as a newly wedded couple, convertibles here, are available in all sizes, so that no one gets disheartened. Take care of the age factor that they attach with the driving permits here and look for speed limits. Otherwise, everything else is supposed to settle down quite peacefully.

Getting around in Cayman – Rental Services

Cayman – The beach lover's paradise! Its almost a ritual to go there and get lost in the beauty and charm that nature has generously showered upon this set of islands. Once a visitor to Cayman Islands, and you would want to come here again and again. People come, they stay and they move around. And moving around is specifically easy here. Public transport galore, vehicles for rentals are easily available here. There are however, a few thumb-rules, you need to keep in mind while renting in a car for going around the island.

The first thing, you need to get a driving permit from the rental company that you are dealing with. Technically, all rental companies are supposed to to issue permits in change of US$7.5. Permits are valid for an extended period of 6 months. Now, for being eligible for getting a permit, you need to submit your age proof. This differs from one company to another. While one would consider it eligible even at 21 years of age, another would ask you to wait till you were 25. And the last limit till which you can take a car for rent is 75, invariably across all rental companies. Speed limits are strict here and breach-in these limit rules can drop you into severe conditions. So, better, keep to the rules and drive.

Car rental prices are another factor that could really matter to you if you were not aware. Rental prices shoot up severely during the December-April frame. Beyond that, they are sliced off to as low as 35%! So, it is always better to book in a car well in advance if you are planning for a Cayman trip during the merry-making times.

Most rental companies have their kiosks set up at comfortable distances from the airport. However, it is entirely up-to you to chose a car for yourself! You can travel to your hotel in a taxi from the airport and then have a rental car screech in at your place! That is exactly what many tourists conventionally do! So get a car and drive your way through the beautiful Cayman paradise!

Car Rental Cayman Islands in two sister Islands - Cayman Brac & Little Cayman

Sister Islands
The Sister Islands of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman are just a 40-minute plane trip away, approximately 89 miles northeast of Grand Cayman. Island Air offers three daily service between Grand Cayman and the Sister Islands and Cayman Airways also provides Cayman Brac with a daily serivce to Grand Cayman.

Cayman Brac: Diving is the main attraction for most people on this small island. The latest attraction for divers is the wreck of the 330ft. M/V Captain Keith Tibbetts, a Russian built Cuban naval frigate which was sunk off the island's northwest coast. It is now the home for a variety of marine life. There are two other small wrecks off the Brac's coast.

Onshore, attractions include the Cayman Brac Museum at Stake Bay, a variety of dramatic caves; such as Rebecca's Cave, Peter's Cave and Skull Cave; nature trails; exploring the bluff and ironshore beneath it at the eastern tip; small, charming homes restored in traditional seafaring architectural styles - and of course the delightful local people of this unusual community are its main attractions.

The National Trust chapter has activities scheduled throughout the year. A two-mile long nature trail on the bluff adjacent the 180-acre Parrot Reserve was opened in July 1996. Bird watching has long been considered an excellent attraction of this tiny island.

Deep sea and bone fishing are also available with excellent local guides.

At West End, the Community Park features indigenous local plant and tree life identified with wooden signs; a nature trail; playground and picnic/ barbecue facilities. Members of the National Trust visit the DIVI Tiara Beach Resort on Monday evenings to display local crafts and meet with visitors, offering additional information on local Trust projects, activities and points of interest.

Little Cayman: Again diving, especially on famous Bloody Bay wall and Jackson Point, is the main attraction. Bird watching, and light tackle fishing action for bonefish; small tarpon etc. particularly in South Hole Sound lagoon are exciting activities here.

Little Cayman also has the largest known breeding colony of the Red Footed Booby and only breeding colony of Magnificent Frigate Birds in this hemisphere, the country's first RAMSAR site, the 202-acre Booby Pond Nature Reserve, now under National Trust protection. The Little Cayman Trust House, a Caymanian-style building overlooking the rookery, serves as the headquarters for Little Cayman National Trust activities. It also provides an observation deck with high-powered telescopes for year-round viewing the sanctuary's bird life.

Little Cayman now has its own museum, located across from the Booby Pond Nature Reserve. Little Cayman also has a resident indigenous Little Cayman Rock Iguana population estimated at 2,000. There are signs painted by local artists, cautioning motorists to watch out for iguanas along the main coastal road.

The local chapter of the National Trust organizes outings and activities on a regular basis. The mile-long Salt Rock Nature Trail provides glimpses of Little Cayman's natural habitat.
