When you are visiting Cayman Islands, car rentals are an unavoidable
thing you must keep yourself educated about. Cayman, though a
relatively small island, has a lot to see and venture about. It
abounds equally in natural lavishness, historical heritage and
lifestyle fun. When you are interested an all three of them, you
should not stay dependent on the local conveyance facilities. A good
car rental company is what you must be looking forward to. Here are a
few bits and fancies that you compulsorily need to know about driving
in Cayman and car rental companies, here.
- Since Cayman Islands are English governed, the conventional rule of driving on the left is still followed here. Do not be taken aback if you come from a different driving rules background. People are generally very stern about traffic rules here and any negligence shown towards towards traffic system can lead to heavy penalties.
- Lanes are strictly to be followed and turn-arounds are a common spectacle on roads. People follow rules and you are expected to do the same. It is better to stay considerate towards any vehicle, running parallel to you. Turn-around rules are stern and the traffic generally goes self-regulated.
- When you are planning to visit Cayman, do not forget your driving license. It is on the basis of your native driving license, that your Cayman driving permit would be issued. Any car rental company on the island would make your Cayman driving permit available to you. You would need to furnish a copy of your native driving license in leu of it.
- You must be minimum 21 years of age to stand eligible for driving independently on Cayman Islands. Some car rental companies elevate the age threshold. As such, it is safer to ask your rental company about their fixed age criteria.
- You might be required to pay towards car insurance when you hire one, for a specific number of days. Many car rental companies do this to stay away from any kind of risk associated with theft or damage done to the vehicle. The amount is generally not pocket-burning in nature, but still, it does exist. Prepare to pay a few extra bucks towards it.
- Hire a good car rental company. It is safe to compare 2-3 well-known and recommended ones and fix on something that suits your requirements and seems to be trust-worthy. Marshalls is a great Cayman car rental service provider with something or the other for different kinds of requirements. They offer good discount offers as well!
- Book for your rental company well in advance. It gets a bit hassle-filled when you make last-moment reservations. Prices might increase and availability might be an issue. 3-4 weeks in advance should be good enough a time to make sensible reservations.
